Let \(G\) be a compact Lie group and \(N=G/K\) a Riemannian symmetric space and let \(H\subset G\) be a symmetric subgroup of \(G\). An action of \(H\) on \(N\) is called a \textit{Hermann action}. Hermann actions are examples of hyperpolar actions. In this paper the author studies examples of minimal orbits of Hermann actions. A submanifold \(M\subset N\) is called \textit{austere} if for any \(p\in M\) and any \(v\in T_{p}M\) the spectrum of the shape operator \(A_v\) satisfies \(\text{spec}(A_v)=-\text{spec}(A_v)\). Conditions for an orbit of a Hermann action to be an austere submanifold are given in theorem B. In the final part of the paper examples of Hermann actions are studied, special orbits are calculated and given in detailed lists; furthermore, their positions in fundamental domains are shown.
