The author introduces a family of maps of the unit square into itself: \(F(x,y) = (\lambda f(x) f(y)^s,x)\), with \(f(t ) = 2 \min(1, 1-t)\), which represents so-called ``unimodular mappings of the unit square'' established by the same author in his earlier papers. He proves, that for some parameters \(\lambda, s\), there exist generalized hyperbolic attractors which are one-dimensional piecewise smooth continua with self-intersections.
