The article under review gives an estimate of the cardinality of the set of algebraic numbers using an approach different from a classical one. The main motivation behind the introduction of the new system is the fact that under a classical use of cardinality an infinite countable set and its proper infinite subsets have the same cardinality, not allowing one to express the intuitive idea that a set must be ``bigger'' than its proper subset. In the new system the set of positive integers is assigned cardinality \textcircled{1} (grossone). Under this methodology the cardinality of the set \(\mathbb{Z}_{>0} \setminus \{1\}\) is \textcircled{1}\(-1\) and the cardinality of \(\mathbb{Z}\) is 2\textcircled{1}+1. The main result of the paper is an estimate on the size of the set of algebraic numbers using grossone methodology. If \(\hat A\) is the cardinality of the set of all algebraic numbers, then \[ 4\text{\textcircled{1}}+1 < \hat A < \frac{2\text{\textcircled{1}}+1)((2\text{\textcircled{1}}+1)^{\text{\textcircled{1}}}(2\text{\textcircled{1}}^2-1)+1)}{2\text{\textcircled{1}}}. \]
