Let \((R,\mathfrak m,k)\) be a commutative Noetherian local ring with the residue field \(K\). The authors in this paper show that every integrally closed \(\mathfrak m\)-primary ideal has maximal complexity and curvature. This fact yields them to get a new characterization of complete intersection local rings and a new view of complete intersection dimension of ideals. They also provide some short proofs of the classical results about the characterization of rings in terms of projective, injective, and Gorenstein dimensions of ideals.
