The authors study linear cyclic codes over rings \(R = \mathbb Z_2 + u\mathbb Z_2 = \{0,1,u,u+1\}\), \(u^2=0\), and \(S = \mathbb Z_2 + u\mathbb Z_2 + u^2\mathbb Z_2= \{0,1,u,u+1,u^2,1+u^2,u+u^2,1+u+u^2\}\), \(u^3=0\). Description of these codes are given in terms of generators. Dual codes are calculated. The Hamming weights of codes are also studied. Codes of small lengths are considered in detail.
