Let \(\mathbf{SStar}(D)\) (resp., \(\mathbf{SStar}_{f}(D)\), \(\overline{\mathbf{SStar}}(D)\), \(\mathbf{SStar}_{\mathrm{eab}}(D)\) ) be the set of all semistar operations (resp., semistar operations of finite type, stable semester operations, eab semistar operations) on an integral domain \(D\). In this paper, the authors deepen and specialize the study of the Zariski topology (in the sense of [\textit{C. A. Finocchiaro} and \textit{D. Spirito}, J. Algebra 409, 199--218 (2014; Zbl 1302.13003)]) on \(\mathbf{SStar}(D)\) to the case of the distinguished subspaces \(\overline{\mathbf{SStar}}(D)\) and \(\mathbf{SStar}_{\mathrm{eab}}(D)\) comprising, respectively. They show that, in both cases, there is a topological retraction to \(\mathbf{SStar}_{f}(D)\) and that there is a distinguished class of overrings connected to each of the two types of collections of semistar operations. They also show that both the set of finite type spectral operations and the set of finite type \(eab\) operations are spectral spaces, reducing the latter case to the former. Moreover, the authors also prove that the Zariski topology on \(\mathbf{SStar}(D)\) is the same as the \(b\)-topology defined by \textit{B. Olberding} [Commun. Algebra 38, No. 9, 3318--3332 (2010; Zbl 1203.13027)]. | |||
