Let \(G\) be a group and \(f,g:G\to \mathbb{C}\) be two maps. In this paper, the authors investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability of a generalization of the Wilson functional equation \[ f(xy)+\mu (y)f(x\sigma(y))=2f(x)g(y) \] for each \(x,y\in G\), where \(\sigma: G \to G\) is an involution of \(G\) (i.e., \(\sigma(xy)=\sigma(x)\sigma(y)\) and \(\sigma(\sigma(x))=1\) for each \(x, y\in G\)), \(\mu\) is a unitary character of \(G\), which satisfies \(\mu(x\sigma(x))=1\) for each \(x\in G\). They also obtain the superstability of the D'Alembert functional equation \[ f(xy)+\mu (y)f(x\sigma(y))=2f(x)f(y) \] for each \(x,y\in G\). | |||
