The paper refers to an IVP, with radial data, for the energy critical wave equation in \((t,x)\in \mathbb R\times \mathbb R^5\). The aim of the article is to construct solutions that blow-up by concentration of one bubble of energy. The wave equation is written as a first-order system. The concepts of solutions, energy, ground states, radial solutions, concentration speed, bubble of energy and asymptotic profile are introduced. In the non-degenerate case, the existence of a blow-up solution, given an asymptotic profile, is proved. The profile is seen as a source term allowing the concentration of bubble. In the degenerate case, one shows how the asymptotic behavior of the profile at \(x=0\) influences the blow-up speed. In both cases corresponding error estimates as well as the form of concentration speed are proved. The proof extends over more sections: Formal picture and construction of blow-up profile, Approximate solution in the non-degenerate case, Approximate solution in the degenerate case, Evolution of the error term, Construction of a uniformly controlled sequence and conclusion. Additional details can be found in the Appendices. The results presented in this article are part of the authors PhD Dissertation.
