Equivariant Chern classes of Atiyah-real vector bundles were first defined and studied by \textit{B. Kahn} [Commun. Algebra 15, 695--711 (1987; Zbl 0615.57012)]. The aim of the paper under review is to obtain these classes by another approach, using the theory of conjugation spaces in the sense of \textit{J.-C. Hausmann, T. Holm} and \textit{V.
