The main result in the paper under review is a hyperbolic version of the well known theorem by \textit{C. L. Epstein} and \textit{B. Kleiner}, which can be thought of as a null space characterization of the Radon transform over spheres for continuous functions in annular regions proved in [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 46, No. 3, 441--451 (1993; Zbl 0841.31006)]. We note that the result can be derived using a general theory of transmutation operators developed by the reviewer and \textit{Vitaly V. Volchkov} in [Harmonic analysis of mean periodic functions on symmetric spaces and the Heisenberg group. Berlin: Springer (2009; Zbl 1192.43007)]. However, the authors' approach is direct and brings out the underlying geometry of the real hyperbolic space.
