The paper under review uses the classification theory of finite flat commutative groups schemes developed by Breuil and Kisin to show the existence of canonical subgroups of truncated Barsotti-Tate group of of level \(n\) when \(p>2\). More specifically, let \(p>2\) be a rational prime and \(K/\mathbb{Q}_p\) be an extension of complete discrete valuations fields. Let \(\mathcal{G}\) be a truncated Barsotti-Tate group of level \(n\), height \(h\) and dimension \(d\) over \(\mathcal{O}_K\) with \(0<d<h\) and Hodge height \(w = \text{Hdg}(\mathcal{G})\). If \(w < 1/(p^{n-2}(p+1))\), there exists a subgroup \(\mathcal{C}_n\) of \(\mathcal{G}\) that is a finite flat closed subgroup scheme of order \(p^{nd}\) satisfying the standard properties of canonical subgroups of Barsotti-Tate groups.
