The authors address the following two questions: (1) Given \(n \geq 2\) and \(0^\circ \leq \alpha \leq 180^\circ\), how large can the Hausdorff dimension of a compact set \(A\subset\mathbb R^n\) be if \(A\) does not contain three points that form an angle \(\alpha\)? (2) Given \(\alpha\) and \(\delta\), how large can the Hausdorff dimension of a subset \(A\) of an Euclidean space be if \(A\) does not contain three points that form an angle in the \(\delta\)-neighborhood of \(\alpha\)? It turns out that different angles show different behavior in these problems. In particular, the angles \(60^\circ\), \(90^\circ\), \(120^\circ\) play a very special role, as shown in the third and fourth sections.
