This paper studies the classical and quantum cohomology of a class of quasi-homogeneous, but not homogeneous, spaces known as Mihai's odd symplectic Grassmannian of lines. The classical cohomology ring can be described in terms of Pieri and Giambelli-type formulas by exploiting relations to the even symplectic and the ordinary Grassmannians. The quantum deformation is obtained by a careful study of enumerativity of Gromov-Witten invariants and a transversality lemma. The quantum cohomology ring being semi-simple motivates the check of a conjecture of Dubrovin's, according to which semi-simplicity should be equivalent to the existence of a full exceptional collection. Pech constructs such an exceptional collection for the odd symplectic Grassmannian by modifying Kuznetsov's exceptional collection for the even symplectic Grassmannian. The paper is a pleasant read and can be understood with familiarity with cohomology of homogeneous spaces and some background knowledge of Gromov-Witten theory.
