Let \(k\) be a field finitely generated over \(\mathbb Q\), \(X\) a curve over \(k\), \(\rho:\pi_1(X)\to\mathrm{GL}(\mathbb Z_\ell)\) an \(\ell\)-adic representation, and \(G=\rho(\pi_1(X))\). Suppose \(\rho\) is geometrically Lie perfect, that is, the abelianization of the Lie algebra of \(\rho(\pi_1(X_{\bar k}))\) is trivial. For any closed point \(x\) of \(X\), let \(G_x=\rho(\pi_1(x))\), and let \(X_{\rho,d}\) be the set of those closed points \(x\) in \(X\) such that \(G_x\) is not open in \(G\) and \([k(x):k]\leq d\). The author prove that \(X_{\rho,d}\) is finite and there exists an integer \(B_{\rho,d}\) such that \([G:G_x]\leq B_{\rho,d}\) for any closed points \(x\in X-X_{\rho,d}\) with \([k(x):k]\leq d\). For part I, cf. [the authors, Duke Math. J. 161, No. 13, 2605--2634 (2012; Zbl 1305.14016)]. | |||
