In the present paper, given an interior operator \(I\) in the category \textbf{Top} of topological spaces, a notion of separation (called \(I\)-separation) is introduced. This extends the notion of a Hausdorff space in the sense that the classical interior operator provides precisely \(T_2\)-separation. Among other examples, it is shown that the interior operator given by \[ h_X(M)=\bigcup\{C\subseteq M\mid C \mathrm{ is closed in }X\} \] yields \(T_1\)-separation, while the operator defined by \[ b_X(M)=\{x\in X\mid \mathrm{ there exists a neighborhood }U_x\mathrm{ of }x \mathrm{ such that }U_x\cap \overline{\{x\}}\subseteq M\} \] yields \(T_0\)-separation. Productivity and heredity of this notion of separation is proved. Furthermore, it is shown that this notion induces a Galois connection between subclasses of separated objects and interior operators in \textbf{Top}. Its fixed points are characterized and examples are provided. | |||
