Using her result from [Topology Appl. 154, No. 4, 917--924 (2007; Zbl 1110.54016)] that the Dedekind remainder of a GO-space~\(L\) is homeomorphic to a closed subset of \(C_p(L,2)\) the author shows that if \(C_p(L,2)\) admits a continuous injection into~\(C_p(X)\) for some Lindelöf \(\Sigma\)-space~\(X\) then that the Dedekind remainder of~\(L\) must be hereditarily paracompact. The second part of the paper is devoted to the construction of a continuous and injective group homomorphism from~\(C_p(\tau,2)\) into~\(C_p(\tau+1,2)\), where \(\tau\)~is an ordinal of countable cofinality; this homomorphism maps any~\(f\) to the characteristic function of the (finite) set of ordinals where \(f\)~changes value, i.e., \(A_f=\bigl\{\alpha: (\exists\beta<\alpha)\bigl(\forall\gamma\in[\beta,\alpha)\bigr) \bigl(f(\gamma\neq f(\alpha)\bigr)\bigr\}\); if \(f(0)=1\) then \(0\)~is also deemed to belong to~\(A_f\).
