The method for solving nonlinear equations \(f(x)=0\) introduced by \textit{Ch. Chun} and \textit{B. Neta} [Appl. Math. Lett. 25, No. 2, 185--189 (2012; Zbl 1260.65048)] requires three evaluations of the function and one evaluation of the first-order derivative per computing one step to reach the order six. The authors present an improvement of the method to reach the highest possible order using four functional evaluations. The comparison of the new method with existing optimal methods is also presented and discussed.
