In this very interesting paper the authors investigate the rings \(R\) over which (i) every RD-projective right \(R\)-module is a direct sum of cyclically presented \(R\)-modules; (ii) every RD-projective right \(R\)-module is a direct sum of finitely presented cyclic \(R\)-modules; (iii) every RD-projective right \(R\)-module is a direct sum of \(R\)-modules with local endomorphism rings. The authors prove that rings of type (i) include superlocal rings, normal (usually called Abelian), semilocal, strongly \(\pi\)-regular rings, right Noetherian serial rings, semiprime, left Noetherian, right serial rings, hereditary, principal right ideal rings. Rings of type (ii) include semilocal, strongly \(\pi\)-regular rings, right Noetherian semiperfect rings over which every cyclically presented right \(R\)-module is a direct sum of a projective module and an Artinian module and hereditary Noetherian exchange rings. The authors also prove that over an SSP ring \(R\) every left (or right) RD-projective \(R\)-module is a direct sum of direct summands of cyclically presented modules. The authors further prove that if \(R\) is a semiprime, Goldie, right PF-ring, every RD-projective right \(R\)-module \(M\) is of the form \(T(M)\oplus P\) where \(T(M)\) is the torsion submodule of \(M\) and \(P\) is a projective module. If \(R\) is a hereditary Noetherian ring then they prove that every RD-projective right \(R\)-module is of the form \(N\oplus P\) where \(N\) is a direct sum of finitely presented cyclic modules and \(P\) is projective. The authors conclude the paper with an example to show that the converse of neither Theorem 5.11 nor Corollary 5.12 is true. | |||
