The authors study the regular part of an abstract densely defined sectorial form \({\mathcal S}\), having in mind applications to differential sectorial forms. The latter are of the form \[ {\mathcal S}(u, v) = \int_\Omega C(x) \nabla u(x) \cdot\nabla v(x)\, dx, \eqno(1) \] where \(\Omega\) is open in \(m\)-dimensional Euclidean space and \(C(x)\) is an \(m \times m\) matrix with entries in \(L^1_{\text{loc}(\Omega)}\). The domain \(D({\mathcal S})\) includes \(C^\infty_c(\Omega)\); every \(u \in D({\mathcal S})\) has derivatives in \(L^1_{\text{loc}(\Omega)}\) and for every pair \(u, v \in D({\mathcal S})\), the integrand of (1) is in \(L^1(\Omega)\). There are additional conditions on \(C(x)\) to make (1) sectorial. The main results are on commutativity of the real part and the regular part of the form; this does not happen in general. | |||

There are additional conditions on \(C(x)\) to make (1) sectorial. The main results are on commutativity of the real part and the regular part of the form; this does not happen in general.
