Half light-like submanifolds \(M\) tangent to the characteristic vector fields are studied in the framework of an indefinite metric global framed \(f\)-manifold (g.f.f-manifold). A particular screen distribution \(S(TM)\) is introduced by using the properties of the indefinite \(S\)-manifold. The existence of totally umbilical half light-like submanifolds of an indefinite \(S\)-space form is then studied. The properties of the light-like manifolds are revised and the characteristic half light-like submanifolds of indefinite g.f.f-manifolds are introduced. The conditions to be fulfilled for a half light-like submanifold \(M\) be totally geodesic are also established. All these definitions and the properties are then applied to the case of totally umbilical half light-like submanifolds of an indefinite \(S\)-manifold.
