\(H^\infty\) can be considered as a closed subalgebra of \(L^\infty\), the algebra of equivalence classes of essentially bounded Lebesgue measurable functions on the unit circle \(\mathbb{T}=\partial\mathbb{D}\). The smallest closed subalgebra of \(L^\infty\) strictly containing \(H^\infty\) is called the Sarason algebra, and coincides with the set \(H^\infty+ C\) of sums of (boundary values of) functions in \(H^\infty\) and continuous complex-valued functions on \(\mathbb{T}\). It was shown by \textit{U. Daepp}, \textit{P. Gorkin} and \textit{R. Mortini} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 116, No. 2, 483--488 (1992; Zbl 0790.46044)] that in \(H^\infty\) a radical ideal \(I\neq(0)\) is finitely generated if and only if \(I\) is a principal ideal generated by a Blaschke product having simple zeros. In \(H^\infty+C\) there are no finitely generated prime ideals (see [\textit{P. Gorkin}, Mich. Math. J. 33, 315--323 (1986; Zbl 0616.46049)]); here the authors prove that a radical ideal in \(H^\infty+C\) is finitely generated if and only if it is the zero ideal or a principal ideal generated by an interpolating Blaschke product.
