The class of \(m\)-isometries on Hilbert spaces, as an extension of the class of isometries, was investigated in the 1990's by \textit{J. Agler} and \textit{M. Stankus} (see [Integral Equations Oper. Theory 24, No. 4, 379-421 (1996; Zbl 0871.47012)] and references therein). \textit{F. Bayart} [Math. Nachr. 284, No. 17--18, 2141--2147 (2011; Zbl 1230.47018)] introduced the notion of \((m,p)\)-isometry as follows. For a nonnegative integer \(m\) and a real number \(p \in [1,\infty)\), a bounded linear operator \(T\) on a Banach space \(X\) is called an \((m,p)\)-isometry if it satisfies the equation \(\sum_{k=0}^m(-1)^k \binom{m}{k}\|T^kx\|^p=0\) for all \(x\in X\). The author of the paper under review extends the definition of \((m, p)\)-isometry for \(p \in (0,\infty]\) and studies some properties of these \((m,p)\)-isometries. He investigates the structure which underlies the second parameter of \((m,p)\)-isometric operators. He concentrates on determining when an \((m, p)\)-isometry is a \((\mu, q)\)-isometry for some integer \(\mu \geq 2\) and \(q\in (0,\infty)\).
