Let \(\mathcal{H}^1\) be the \(1\)-dimensional Hausdorff measure, let \(E\subset \mathbb{C}\) be a Borel set with finite length, that is, \(\mathcal{H}^1(E)<\infty\); and let \(\mathcal{H}^1\lfloor E\) be the restriction of \(\mathcal{H}^1\) on \(E\). By a theorem of G. David and J. C. Léger the \(L^2(\mathcal{H}^1\lfloor E)\)-boundedness of the singular integral associated to the Cauchy kernel implies that \(E\) is rectifiable. In the paper, this result is extended to any kernel of the form \(\frac{x^{2n-1}}{|z|^{2n}}\) \((z=(x,y)\in\mathbb{C}, n\in\mathbb{N}).\) Consequently, it is provided the first non-trivial examples of operators not directly related with the Cauchy transform whose \(L^2\)-boundedness implies rectifiability. Furthermore, in terms of the \(L^2\)-boundedness of singular operators with kernels of above mentioned type there are characterized \(1\)-dimensional measures on \(\mathbb{C}\) regular in Ahlfors-David sense that are uniformly rectifiable.
