The topological theory of \(p\)-local finite groups tries to approximate the classifying space of a finite group via the \(p\)-local structure of the group as encoded by its fusion system of \(p\)-subgroups. This fusion system is a category whose objects are the \(p\)-subgroups with appropriate morphisms. \(p\)-local groups also have classifying spaces but these need not be the classifying spaces of a finite group. This paper studies groups that realize fusion systems, including the possibility that they do so simultaneously at different primes. The author constructs homology decompositions to compute the cohomology of the classifying spaces of group theory models of fusion systems. | |||
