A \textit{random billiard} differs from a classical billiard insofar as the standard specular reflection law is replaced by a random law, which is allowed to depend on the pre-collision velocity. The paper discusses situations where this law is itself given by a second deterministic billiard, modelling what is addressed to as ``microscopic roughness'' of the billiard table boundary. For the macroscopic system this gives a Markov operator. For this operator, conditions to be Hilbert-Schmidt are given, and the spectrum, speed of convergence to the stationary states, and the spectral gap are related to geometric properties of the microscopic billiard. | |||
