A finite element method for a singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problem with exponential boundary layers is analysed. Using a mortaring technique, the authors combine an anisotropic triangulation of the layer region with a shape regular one of the remainder of the domain. The error of the method allowing different asymptotic behaviour of the triangulations is studied and a uniform convergence is proved. Numerical results supporting the theoretical results are presented.

The error of the method allowing different asymptotic behaviour of the triangulations is studied and a uniform convergence is proved. Numerical results supporting the theoretical results are presented.
