In this paper, the authors consider a free boundary value problem for a viscous compressible barotropic fluid without surface tension. The problem is nonstationary and the flow domain is \({\mathbb R}^{N}\). The main objective of the paper consists in the proof of a local in time existence theorem for solutions to such a dynamical system in the \(L_{p}\) in time and \(L_{q}\) in space framework with \(2 < p < +\infty \) and \(N < q < +\infty \) under the assumption that the flow domain \(\Omega\) is a uniform \(W_{q}^{2-1/q}\) domain. Also, the authors want to establish the corresponding linear theory. The solution strategy is the following: After transforming an unknown time-dependent domain to the initial domain by a Lagrangian transformation, the authors solve the problem by the Banach contraction mapping principle based on the maximal \(L_{p}\)-\(L_{q}\) regularity of the generalized Stokes operator for the compressible viscous fluid flow. An essential tool for the linear theorem is the existence of an \(\mathcal R\)-bounded solution operator in a sector. The paper is very comprehensive and the necessary tools are proven in detail. The bibliography contains 23 items.
