Based on the authors' abstract: The problem of solutions of vortex filaments for a model introduced by \textit{R. Klein} et al. [J. Fluid Mech. 288, 201--248 (1995; Zbl 0846.76015)] and \textit{V. E. Zakharov} [``Wave collapse'', Sov. Phys. Usp. 31, No. 7, 672--674 (1988); Lect. Notes Phys. 536, 369--385 (1999; Zbl 0947.76011)] to describe the interaction of almost parallel vortex filaments in three-dimensional fluids are considered. Since the results of \textit{S. C. Crow} [``Stability theory for a pair of trailing vortices'', AIAA J. 8, No. 12, 2172--2179 (1970; \url{doi:10.2514/3.6083})], examples of collisions are searched as perturbations of antiparallel translating pairs of filaments, with initial perturbations related to the unstable mode of the linearized problem; most results are numerical calculations. In this article, the authors consider a related model for the evolution of pairs of filaments, and they display another type of initial perturbation leading to collision in finite time. The authors give numerical evidence that it also leads to collision through the initial model.
