The authors are interested in the existence of traveling wave solution of the Frenkel-Kontorova model. At first the authors state the Frenkel-Kontorova model, which is a system of lattice differential equations, for which they look for traveling wave solutions of the form \[ \begin{aligned} u_i(t)=\phi_1(i+ct), \\ \theta_i(t)=\phi_2(i+ct).\end{aligned} \] They state the main results and the required assumptions for the existence of traveling wave solutions and the uniqueness of the velocity and the profile \((\phi_1,\phi_2).\) The second part deals the construction of the traveling wave. By using the comparison principle and by means of upper and lower solutions, they prove the uniqueness of the velocity and by means of the maximum principle they prove the uniqueness of the profile. | |||
