The authors study the Cauchy problem of the Rosenau-Korteweg-de Vries equation \[ \partial_t u+\partial_x u^2+\beta\partial^3_{xxx}u+\beta^2\partial^5_{txxxx}u=\varepsilon \partial^2_{xx} u \, , \] in the singular limit \(\varepsilon,\beta \to 0\), in which limit the above equation becomes the inviscid Burgers equation \[ \partial_t u+\partial_x u^2=0 \; . \] The main results of the papers are Theorem 2.1 and Theorem 3.1: according to those theorems, there exists a sequence of parameters \((\beta_n,\varepsilon_n)\to (0,0)\) such that the solution of the Rosenau-Korteweg-de Vries equation converges to the entropy solution of the inviscid Burgers equation. The main assumptions in the aforementioned theorems are {\parindent=2.5cm\begin{itemize}\item[Theorem] The initial data \(u_0\) belongs to \(L^2(\mathbb{R})\) and \(\beta=o(\varepsilon^4)\). \item[Theorem] The initial data \(u_0\) belong to \(L^2(\mathbb{R})\cap L^4(\mathbb{R})\) and \(\beta=O(\varepsilon^4)\). \end{itemize}} Finally in Theorem 4.1, the authors prove similar results for the singular limit of the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation.
