This paper deals with the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with the nonlinear damping \(\alpha| u|^{\beta-1} u,\) where \(u\) is the velocity \(\beta\geq 1\) and \(\alpha>0\) are constants, in the full space. The velocity vanishes at infinity. The \(L_2\) decay of weak solutions for \(\alpha>0\), \(\beta>2,\) is proved. If \(\alpha>0,\) \(\beta>3,\) and \(\alpha\geq\frac{1}{2},\) \(\beta=3,\) under some restrictions the existence of a weak solution (of the perturbed problem) which converges asymptotically to \(u(x,t),\) as \(t\rightarrow \infty,\) is proved. This result improves the known result obtained for \(\alpha\geq\frac{1}{2},\) \(\beta>3\). | |||
