The authors consider the backward problem of finding a function \(u:[0,T] \to H\) such that \[ \begin{cases} u_{t} + Au= f(t,u(t), \quad t \in(0,T), \\ u(T)=\varphi, \end{cases} \] where \(H\) is a Hilbert space, \(\varphi\in H\), \(A\) is a positive self-adjoint operator defined on a dense subspace \(D(A)\subset H\) such that \(-A\) generates a compact contractive semigroup and admits an orthonormal eigenbasis \(\{ \phi_{n} \}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) in \(H\), associated with the eigenvalues \(\{\lambda_{n}\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\) such that \(0< \lambda_{1}\leq\lambda_{2}\leq\lambda_{3} \leq\cdots,\) and \(\lim_{n\rightarrow\infty} \lambda_{n} = \infty,\) and the function \(f:[0,T] \times H \to H\) satisfies the global Lipschitz condition \( \| f(t,v_{1})-f(t,v_{2})\| \leq K \|v_{1}-v_{2} \|\) for some constant \(K>0\) independent of \(t, v_{1}, v_{2}.\) A related Fourier truncated solution \(u^\varepsilon\) is given. Moreover, the error analysis between the exact solution and the regularized solution to the backward problem is presented under more assumptions.
