The authors are concerned with accurate numerical solutions to an initial boundary value problem attached to a nonlinear thermistor system in a nonconvex polygon. They use a backward Euler-Galerkin finite element method (FEM) in order to discretize this problem. Then, they show the unconditional stability and provide optimal error estimates of the linearized form of this fully discrete scheme. Actually, they make use of the error splitting approach previously introduced by themselves in terms of a time-discrete system. A numerical test concerning a thermistor problem on an \(L\) shape domain is carried out in order to confirm the theoretical outcomes.
