Let \(X, Y\) be compact Hausdorff spaces and let \(A, B\) be two unital Banach function algebras on \(X, Y\) respectively. A map \(T: A \to B\) is said to be a non-symmetric multiplicatively norm preserving map if there exists a nonzero complex number \(\alpha\) such that \(\| Tf \;Tg+ \alpha \|_Y =\| fg + \alpha \|_X\) for all \( f,g \in A\), where \(\|. \|_X \) and \( \|. \|_Y\) denote the supremum norms on \(X\) and \(Y\), respectively. \noindent In the paper under review, among other results, the authors describe the structure of surjective non-symmetric multiplicatively norm preserving maps between \(A\) and \(B\). The special case where \(A\) and \(B\) are unital uniform algebras has been studied in a preprint, by \textit{O. Hatori}, \textit{T. Miura} and \textit{H. Takagi} [``Multiplicatively spectrum-preserving and norm-preserving maps between invertible groups of commutative Banach algebras'', arXiv 0904.1939]. Other results in this context can be found in \textit{A. Luttman} and \textit{S. Lambert} [Cent. Eur. J. Math 6 (2), 272--280 (2008; Zbl 1151.46036)].
