The author considers the following 2D viscous conservation law: \[ \begin{aligned} u_t-bu_x+f(u)_x+g(u)_y&=u_{xx}+u_{yy}, \quad (x,y,t) \in (\mathbb{R}_+ \times \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}_+), \\ u(x,y,0)&=u_0(x,y) \to u_+ \quad \text{as } x \to \infty, \\ u(0,y,t)&=u_-, \end{aligned} \] where \(u_+,u_-\) are constants. It is assumed that \(f,g \in C^2\), that \(f\) is convex and that the problem is non-degenerate, i.e., that \(f'(u_+)<b\). Let \(\phi=\phi(x)\) denote the boundary layer solution. Under certain assumptions on the growth of \(u_0-\phi(x)\) in \((\mathbb{R}_+ \times \mathbb{R})\), it is shown that the solution \(u\) converges to \(\phi\) for \(t \to \infty\) with polynomial or exponential rate. | |||
