It is well-known that some spaces \(X\) admit universal coverings \(p: \tilde{X} \longrightarrow X\) , \(\pi_1 (\tilde{X})=0\) as well as coverings associated with given subgroups of \(\pi_1 (X)\). The objective of the present paper is the same but for uniform structures. Here uniform as well as generalized uniform covering maps appear. The paper is based on a manuscript of the author and some coauthors, which appears as a preprint, hence not being available to the poor reader, in the bibliography. This paper contains an existence theorem of a universal generalized uniform covering space for locally uniform joinable chain connected spaces. The objective of the present paper is to extend this result to given subgroups of the fundamental group, resp. to subgroups of a group which turns, at least for metric compacta, to be isomorphic to the shape fundamental group \(\breve{\pi}_1(X)\).
