The authors apply their own specific development of Heegaard Floer homology to knots of unknotting number one. Apart from these elaborations, they exploit an observation of Montesinos and the information contained in the Goeritz matrix of a knot to prove their main theorem. Applying this, they find all knots with unknotting number one, having diagrams with up to nine crossings or having alternating diagrams with up to ten crossings.
