For any real numbers \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\), let \((1-x)^{-\alpha -1}(\log (e/1-x))^{\beta}=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}A_ n^{\alpha,\beta}x^ n.\) The \((Z,\alpha,\beta)\) mean of a sequence \(\{s_ n\}\) is defined as the \((N,p_ n)\) mean of the sequence \(\{s_ n\}\), with \(p_ n=A_ n^{\alpha-1,\beta}\). This summability \((Z,\alpha,\beta)\) was introduced by \textit{A. Zygmund} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris 179, 870-872 (1924)] and was studied by \textit{G. Das} and \textit{P. C. Mohapatra} [Indian J. Math. 22, 33-47 (1980; Zbl 0519.40012)]. They called it the generalized harmonic- Cesàro summability and proposed the following conjectures in their papers. (I) If \(-1>\alpha\) and \(\alpha<\alpha'\), then there exists a sequence which is summable (Z,\(\alpha\),\(\beta)\), but not summable (Z,\(\alpha\) ',\(\beta\) ') for any \(\beta\) and \(\beta'\). (II) If \(- 1<\alpha'\) and \(\beta <0\), then there exists a sequence which is summable \((Z,-1,\beta)\), but not summable \((Z,\alpha',\beta')\) for any \(\beta\)'. In this paper, the author proves that the above conjectures are true.
