First in the paper of \textit{B. Blackadar} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 131, No. 3, 589-623 (1990; Zbl 0718.46024)] and next, in the papers of \textit{O. Bratteli, G. A. Elliot, D. E. Evans} and \textit{A. Kishimoto} [K-Theory 8, No. 5, 443-464 (1994; Zbl 0821.46088), J. Funct. Anal. 98, No. 2, 346-360 (1991; Zbl 0746.46055)], one arrived at the construction of compact group actions on UHF algebras whose fixed point algebras are not approximately finite-dimensional (AF). In the same spirit, the author constructs one-parameter automorphism groups on any simple non-type I AF algebra such that the domain of its generator is not AF as a Banach \(^*\)-algebra. Recall that, nevertheless, by a result of \textit{S. Sakai} [Am. J. Math. 98, 427-440 (1976; Zbl 0344.46120)], the domain of the analytic generator always contains an AF Banach \(^*\)-algebra which is dense in \(A\), but not necessarily in the domain itself on which the topology is stronger. Next, the author introduces the notion of a canonical AF masa (maximal abelian subalgebra) of a simple AF \(C^*\)-algebra \(A\). He proves that any non-type I simple AF \(C^*\)-algebra allows a one-parameter group of automorphisms such that the domain of the generator is AF but does not contain a canonical AF masa of \(A\). The author also proves that the domain of the generator of a one-parameter group \(\alpha\) on a unital simple AF \(C^*\)-algebra \(A\) contains a canonical AF masa of \(A\) if and only if \(\alpha\) is an inner perturbation of a one-parameter automorphism group which is AF locally representable. This means that there exists an increasing sequence \(A_n\) of finite-dimensional \(C^*\)-subalgebras of \(A\) with dense union and globally invariant under \(\alpha\).
