Let \(p\) be a prime and suppose that \(G\) is a finite solvable group and \(\chi\) is a complex irreducible character of \(G\). In [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 354, No. 7, 2759-2773 (2002; Zbl 0998.20012)], \textit{G. Navarro} generalized the notion of a vertex known from modular representation theory to ordinary character theory of solvable groups. He showed that one can associate to \(\chi\) a pair \((Q;\delta)\), where \(Q\) is a \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\) and \(\delta\) is an irreducible character of \(Q\), which is unique up to conjugacy. The author calls this pair the Navarro vertex of \(\chi\). The purpose of the paper under review is to study the behavior of the Navarro vertices of \(\chi\) with respect to normal subgroups \(N\) of \(G\) when \(G\) is assumed to have odd order and \(\chi\) is a lift of an irreducible Brauer character of \(G\). In this situation, for example, it is proved that if \(\psi\in\text{Irr}(N)\) is a constituent of \(\chi_N\), then there exists a Navarro vertex \((Q;\delta)\) for \(\chi\) such that \((Q\cap N;\delta_{Q\cap N})\) is a Navarro vertex for \(\psi\). (This result is not true without the odd order assumption.) Some consequences of this result are presented, and a Clifford-type correspondence for lifts with a given Navarro vertex is developed.
