The author studies local well-posedness of the Yang-Mills and the Yang-Mills-Higgs systems in the temporal gauge for arbitrary space dimension \(n\geq3\) and with low regularity data. Of particular interest, in the three dimensional case, such data does not necessarily have finite energy. This motivates the smallness assumption for data given in the space \(H^s\times H^{s-1}\), \[ s>\frac{n}{2}-\frac{5}{8}-\frac{5}{8(2n-1)}. \] The result presented here is based on the work by \textit{T. Tao} for Yang-Mills equations in \((3+1)\)-dimensional case [J. Differ. Equations 189, No. 2, 366--382 (2003; Zbl 1017.81037)] who showed local well-posedness for small data in \(H^s\times H^{s-1}\) for \(s>\frac{3}{4}\) in the temporal gauge. The result can be attributed to the null structure of the critical bilinear terms (several references are included), whereby estimates on these nonlinear terms are made in line with Tao's work, generalizing to the more general Yang-Mills-Higgs systems and to general dimensions \((n+1)\). It is one of these estimates that requires the above smallness assumption on the data.
