Let \(X\) be a complex projective variety and \(f:X\to X\) be an endomorphism, that is a finite morphism of degree \(\geq 2\). A subvariety \(D\subset X\) is totally invariant if \(f^{-1}(D)\subset D\). It is expected that totally invariant subvarieties of endomorphisms of projective space \(f:\mathbb P ^n\to \mathbb P^n\) are linear spaces. This conjecture has been verified for divisors of degree \(n+1\) in \(\mathbb P ^n\) [\textit{J.-M. Hwang} and \textit{N. Nakayama}, Pure Appl. Math. Q. 7, No. 4, 1407--1426 (2011; Zbl 1316.14081)] and smooth hypersurfaces of any degree [\textit{A. Beauville}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2001, No. 1, 53--58 (2001; Zbl 0986.14022)]. In this paper the author gives a lower bound for the degree of the non-normal locus of a totally invariant divisor. As a consequence he shows that the conjecture holds for prime divisors of degree \(n\) in \(\mathbb P ^n\) and for all prime divisors in \(\mathbb P ^3\).
