The authors study the flow of hydromagnetic fluid which is incompressible and has finite electric conductivity. The flow proceeds past a porous plate which rotates with a uniform angular velocity about an axis normal to the plate; the fluid at the infinity rotates with the same angular velocity about a non-coincident parallel axis. For the sake of simplicity, the flow is taken time-independent and takes place in a uniform magnetic field which is parallel to the axis of rotation. With simple choice of coordinates, the basic equations of the flow can be solved. The solution is discussed for different parameters of the problem which characterize the suction and magnetic field. The new result of the calculation seems to be that no torque is exerted on the plate by the fluid. Finally, the stationary temperature and heat flow are calculated as a function of flow parameters. The results may be applied to the theory of orthogonal rheometer.
