The authors investigate the asymptotic behaviour of the solution of the linear theory of thermo-porous-elasticity. More precisely generally speaking they consider the theory of elastic materials with voids when the heat is allowed to propagate by means of thermal waves but without dissipating energy. They assume that the only dissipation mechanism is the porous dissipation. At first they prove that the solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for the one-dimensional partial differential equation of thermo-porous-elasticity are exponentially stable on time (more precisely speaking the decay of solutions can be constructed by a negative exponential for a generic class of materials). Next, they prove that the decay of solutions cannot fast enough to make the solutions be zero in finite periodic times. At, the end they show that when the coupling term between the microscopic (or macroscopic) structure and the thermal variable vanishes the solution do not decay exponentially (generically). In order to prove the exponential decay the authors convert the initial-boundary value problem to the evolution equation is suitably chosen Hilbert space. Next, they use the theory of semigroup of contraction.
