It is possible to obtain numerical solutions of high (n\(\geq 4)\) order nonlinear differential systems or exact solutions for nonlinear finite automata. We present useful and informative methods for graphically displaying such motions in \(R^ n\) onto the plane \(R^ 2\). A ''theory of illustrations'' is closely related to the various concepts of dimension. Our examples are taken from the field of neuroscience.
