Let \(X\) be a singular cubic surface with canonical singularities and \(D\) an effective \(\mathbb{Q}\)-Cartier \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisor on \(X\). The log canonical threshold lct\((X,D)\) is defined as the supremum of \(\lambda\in\mathbb{Q}\) such that the log pair \((X,\lambda D)\) is log canonical. The global log canonical threshold lct\((X)\) is defined as the infimum of the thresholds lct\((X,D)\) for all effective \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisors \(D\equiv -K_X\). For example, if \(X\) is smooth then the global log canonical threshold of \(X\) is \(2/3\) when \(X\) contains an Eckardt point and \(3/4\) when it does not. In this paper, the global log canonical thresholds are computed for all singular cubic surface with canonical singularities based on their singularity types. The other main theorem of this paper uses global log canonical thresholds to give criteria for when two cubic surface fibrations over a smooth curve are isomorphic. The author presents many interesting examples to show how to use his second theorem.
