Here the author has given a generalization of the familiar sine and cosine trigonometric functions, and also corresponding hyperbolic functions. These functions are the inverse of some very special Abelian integrals. He obtains the counterparts of many well-known trigonometric formulas such as \(\sin 2x + \cos 2x =1\), \(\operatorname {tan} x \operatorname {cot}x=1\), and \(\operatorname {ch} z = \cos (iz)\).
