The author proves a (multivariable) nonterminating \(_8\phi_7\) summation for the root system \(C_r\) (or, equivalently, for the symplectic group \(Sp(r)\)). The summation formula is deduced from an equivalent multiple \(q\)-integral evaluation, which is proven by a determinant method. Some interesting specializations are presented.
