    Let K denote the set of functions that are analytic, univalent and convex in \(\{\) \(z: | z| <1\}\). A theorem of \textit{St. Ruscheweyh} and \textit{T. Sheil-Small} [Comment. Math. Helv. 48, 119-135 (1973; Zbl 0261.30015)] asserts that if \(f\in K\) and \(g\in K\) then \(h\in K\), where \[ f(z)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}a_ nz^ n,\quad g(z)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}b_ nz^ n \] and \(h(z)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}a_ nb_ nz^ n.\) The authors show that the result of Ruscheweyh and Sheil-Small imply the classical facts: (1) If \(f\in K\) then f(\(\{\) \(z: | z| <r\})\) is convex for each r with \(0<r<1\); (2) If \(f\in K\) then each partial sum of f-f(0) is univalent and convex in \(\{\) \(z: | z| <1/4\}.\) The authors also point out in ''added in proof'' that (2) was also obtained in the same way by T. R. Reddy in 1983 and by S. Singh in 1981.
