It is shown that the maximal operator of a tempered distribution is bounded from the \(d\)-dimensional Hardy space \(H_p(\mathbb{R} \times \dots\times \mathbb{R})\) to \(L_p(\mathbb{R}^d)\) for \(1/2<p<\infty\) and it is of weak type \((H_1^{\#_i}, L_1)\) \((i=1,\dots ,d)\), where the Hardy space \(H_1^{\#_i}\) is defined by a hybrid maximal function. As a consequence the author obtains that the Fejér means of a function in \(H_1^{\#_i} \supset L(\log L)^{d-1}\) converge almost everywhere to the function. The author also proves the convergence in norm of the Fejér means of functions in \(H_p(\mathbb{R} \times \dots\times \mathbb{R})\). The same results are proved for the conjugate Fejér means.
